Ben Goossens was born in Liezele, Belgium and attended the St Lucas Art School in Brussels where he studied Illustration and Photography.
After four years in Art School, illustration and photography became his obsession.
He worked in advertising for 32 years, mostly as an Art Director, where he gained 15 years of Photoshop experience.
His source of inspiration in advertising came from surrealist paintings and still does in his work now.
His hobby and passion now is creating ‘experimental / surreal photomontages’, these images are very seamless yet painterly dreamscapes.
With each shooting he tries to create his own personal image, either simple or complex the idea behind his images is more important than the technique.
He believes that the work he makes now is a logical follow-up to what he did professionally.
Frequently dubbed the "René Magritte" or "Salvador Dalí" of photography, his distinct style blends dreamscape aesthetics with painterly compositions.
Goossens’s images have received awards in several prestigious international photography competitions.
His work has also been widely published, including an in-depth 10 page exposition in the March 2007 edition of Photo Art International.
👉 - I live in Willebroek, Belgium. After Art School, where photography was one of the sections, I worked 35 years as an Art Director in advertising and allready 15 years with Photoshop, to realize the ideas.
Now my hobby and passion is creating experimental/surealistic photomontages.
I sent those images to International Experimental Photo contests with success.
With differents shootings I try to ceated my own personal image.
What I make now, is a logic follow-up from what I did professionaly.
Maybe those images are not accepted by everybody, but the last years they are eddited all over the world in magazines and books.
Ben Goossens (nato a Liezele) è un celebre artista e fotografo Belga, universalmente riconosciuto come il "Magritte della fotografia" per i suoi fotomontaggi in stile surrealista.
Dopo aver studiato illustrazione e fotografia presso la St Lucas Art School di Bruxelles, ha lavorato per 35 anni come art director in un'agenzia pubblicitaria.
Una volta andato in pensione, ha trasformato la sua passione in un'attività a tempo pieno, utilizzando software di editing digitale (principalmente Photoshop) per fondere i propri scatti fotografici reali in panorami onirici e fantastici.
Le sue opere combinano una tecnica digitale impeccabile con una resa quasi pittorica, sfidando la percezione della realtà.
Influenza di René Magritte: Presenza frequente dell'uomo con la bombetta ed atmosfere che richiamano l'opera "Il figlio dell'uomo".
Scenari desertici, figure isolate o manipolazioni di animali che fluttuano fuori dal tempo e dallo spazio.
Atmosfere introspettive: Uso sapiente di toni morbidi, sfumature calde o fredde che evocano la dimensione del sogno e della fantasia.
I fotomontaggi di Goossens hanno ottenuto prestigiosi premi nei più importanti concorsi fotografici del mondo, tra cui diverse medaglie d'oro e d'argento al Trierenberg Super Circuit.
Le sue creazioni sono state pubblicate su riviste internazionali di settore (come Photo Art International) ed esposte su piattaforme d'arte di rilievo come Saatchi Art ed Artmajeur.
